Dr. Bob Asks some important questions of interest to Marysville residents - Chiropractor Marysville Dr. Bob Asks...

What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Marysville parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
How do most people deal with subluxations?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Marysville chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care. Marysville Chiropractic News and Events

Dalmation Drive

Marysville Chiropractic Dalmation DriveThe annual Dalmatian Drive raises funds for the Marysville Fire District Foundation to purchase stuffed Dalmatian puppies. These puppies are distributed by the Marysville Fire District throughout the year to comfort scared children in the time of crisis.

Each year, for the entire month of June, Marysville Chiropractic collects funds in our office and throughout the community to purchase these stuffed Dalmatian puppies. We are very proud to spearhead such a worthwhile event!

Dalmation donation comforts kids

MARYSVILLE — For Marysville chiropractor Bob DeFever, 101 Dalmatians is chump change.

The back doctor has been raising money for the Marysville Fire District Foundation to pay for stuffed Dalmatian dolls to comfort children at the scene of fires and other emergencies and this year his office raised $2,100 with the help of several local businesses. DeFever has been raising money for the foundation for nine years, and this year he and his staff went the extra distance, raising the largest amount ever. “We kind of put a little extra effort into it,” DeFever said as he handed the check to fire district officials last month.

Becky Hader is a receptionist in the office and spearheaded the effort, contacting local businesses getting them to sign on. About 14 sponsors signed on at $100 each, and DeFever contributed about $500, Hader said. She has been with DeFever for about a year and started visiting business to explain the need for fundraiser. “That was fun, I just got a really great reception from everyone,” Hader said. “They made it easy on me. They were all very enthusiastic. They all liked that it was local funds and that it would be used within their community.”

Corporate contributors included Roy Robinson Chevrolet, Harv and Jan Jubie, Espresso Avenue, Marysville Floral, Browns Plumbing, Loren Van Loo, North County Bank, Kim Kron, Tom and Carolann Nixon, Grandview Village, Whitfield’s Insurance, Gary Baker and a local couple named Heitman who just walked in off the street one day and donated $200 to the cause.

“The idea came because the fire department originally had funds to purchase these Dalmatians and about nine years ago those funds were switched,” Hader explained.

A fire district firefighter was a patient and friend of Dr. Bob and they figured out a way to make up for the loss.

“That’s how it kind of came together,” Hader said. “When the fire department responds to a crisis call, they give the Dalmatians to children to comfort them.”

This year was a lot of money and MFD foundation might use some of the funds for other purposes, since they would be swimming in stuffed dogs. The chiropractor does many other fundraisers, according to Hader, but this is one of his favorites. “It’s just a really important thing to him.”

The Marysville Globe

Marysville Rotary Club

Few realize the truly astonishing legacy that the Marysville Rotary Club continues to provide. Considering it’s “small” membership of various community members, it’s level of giving, supporting, and caring for Marysville, mirrors many Rotary Clubs twice or even three times it’s size. Dr. Bob DeFever is a proud member of the Marysville Rotary Club and it’s myriad of community programs. Help support the Marysville Rotary Club if you wish, by visiting the Marysville Rotary Club Pumpkin Patch this year!

Marysville Strawberry Festival

The Marysville Strawberry Festival has a legacy of decades. The festival is held each year and has become well known in the state of Washington. Truly a family event, Marysville Chiropractic takes this opportunity to celebrate the success of the Marysville Community, and it’s neighboring areas. The Marysville Strawberry Festival Parade is an elaborate, joyful event that serves as a visual reminder of the importance of acting as a “community”. Watch for us this year at the Strawberry Festival!

Giving Thanks Food Drive

Each November, in celebration of Thanksgiving, our good fortune and all it’s blessings, we sponsor a Food Drive for the Marysville Food Bank. Portable tables in the waiting area become piled sky-high with patient’s food donations What originally started with patients donating 1-2 cans of food, has grown to amazing proportions! It’s common for patients to bring in BAGS OF GROCERIES. This is another testament of how committed and compassionate the Marysville community truly is. Each patient receives a free chiropractic adjustment as well. For the last eight years, this event has tipped the scales at over 500 lbs. of food donated! This year, our goal is 700 lbs. You’re invited to come in and join with us in providing a warm Thanksgiving meal to those who might not receive them otherwise.
